AI assistant: generate, expand and refine mind maps
The AI assistant generates mind map structures from your description in natural language. Instead of creating node after node manually, you describe your topic — the AI delivers a structured tree in seconds that you can apply and edit freely.
Open the AI panel
- Click the AI button in the editor toolbar.
- The panel opens as a sidebar next to your map.
How it works
- Describe your topic or requirement in the chat input, for example: "Project plan for introducing new software, with phases, tasks and risks."
- The AI generates a tree structure with nodes and sub-items.
- Click "Apply" to add the generated nodes to your map.
- Alternatively, "Replace map" replaces the entire existing structure.
Before every AI action, AI-MindMap automatically creates a version snapshot — so you can experiment without risk.
The three modes

AI quota
- Every user has a monthly quota (default: 200 requests + 40 grace).
- The status (usage/limit) is shown directly in the AI panel.
- When the quota is exhausted, a warning appears and new requests are blocked.
- The quota resets automatically at the start of each month (UTC).
You can also see your personal quota under Profile & settings.
Prompt templates
- Save your own prompt templates under Prompts in the sidebar.
- There are system prompts and custom prompts with categories.
- Templates can be used as a starting point when generating — handy for recurring formats such as brainstorming, meeting agendas, project planning or SWOT analyses.
Tips for good results
- Be specific: "Marketing plan for a B2B product launch" produces better structures than "marketing".
- Use refine: Generate a first draft, then refine it step by step with instructions like "Add milestones to each phase".
- Combine AI and manual work: Generated nodes are regular nodes — you can edit, move and style them as usual.

How many AI requests do I get per month?
Every user has a monthly quota of 200 requests plus 40 grace requests by default. Your current usage is shown in the AI panel. The quota resets at the start of each month (UTC).
Can I undo an AI action?
Yes. Before every AI action, AI-MindMap automatically creates a version snapshot. Via the version history you restore any earlier state with a single click.
What are prompt templates?
Prompt templates are saved instructions for the AI assistant, for example for brainstorming, meeting agendas or SWOT analyses. Manage your own templates with categories under Prompts in the sidebar.
